True or False: Active Pregnancy - You must keep your heart rate < 140 bpm
You must keep your heart rate under 140 ppm (beats per minute) when exercising...
F A L S E
In the past, we used to suggest keeping the heart rate below 140 beats per minute but now we recommend doing the “talk test” to stay in the target zone or using the Borg scale (rate of perceived exertion). Working hard enough to gain the positive benefits you need but not so hard you might increase your chances of injury. Technically you should be able to talk..not sing while working out. Try singing your favorite song while exercising... if you can still maintain those beautiful notes, you can increase your intensity!!
You can cycle, swim and run right through your pregnancy, as long as you scale back according to what feels comfortable.
